Refund and Returns

Our Try Before You Unseal guarantee: every full-size spray ships with a tester. Return the unopened bottle within 14 days if the fragrance isn’t yours.

Every ÉCLATAUR fragrance is handcrafted in small batches at our Sunnyvale, Texas studio. Because our products are personal cosmetics that contain flammable ingredients, we follow strict hygiene, safety, and packaging standards. This policy explains how we handle returns, damaged items, and our Try Before You Unseal program. Please read it carefully before making a purchase.

The ÉCLATAUR Try Before You Unseal Guarantee

We believe your first commitment should be to the fragrance, not to the bottle. Every full-size ÉCLATAUR Eau de Parfum spray ships with a complimentary tester of the same scent and concentration, packed outside the sealed box.

  • Try it first. Wear the tester on your skin before breaking the seal on the full bottle.
  • Request a Return Authorization. If the fragrance is not yours, email support@eclataur.com within 14 days of delivery. Include your order number and the scent name. We will respond with a Return Authorization and return instructions within 2 business days.
  • Return the unopened bottle. Once authorized, send the bottle back in its original packaging with the cellophane wrap and bottle seal fully intact. Returns must be shipped within 7 days of receiving your Return Authorization.
  • We inspect each return. Upon receipt, we verify the bottle is unopened, unused, and in resalable condition. Eligible returns receive a full refund of the product price, excluding original shipping charges and any promotional discounts applied at checkout, issued to the original payment method within 5 to 7 business days.
  • The complimentary tester is yours to keep, whether or not you return the full bottle.
  • Customer is responsible for return shipping. See Section 6 for hazmat shipping requirements.

This guarantee applies to full-size ÉCLATAUR Eau de Parfum sprays from the permanent ÉCLATAUR Collection. Returns sent without prior authorization, received outside the stated windows, or received in opened or damaged condition may be refused or subject to a restocking fee at our discretion.

The Scent Is Subjective Principle

Fragrance reacts uniquely to individual skin chemistry. A scent that performs beautifully on one person may shift on another. Our Try Before You Unseal guarantee exists precisely because we recognize this, and we want you to test every full-size purchase on your own skin before committing to the bottle.

We strongly encourage first-time customers to also explore The Prelude Collection (our tester program) or our Discovery Set (a curated selection of five 10 ml sprays) before committing to a full-size bottle.

Return Eligibility

We accept returns on the following items when all conditions are met:

  • Full-size Eau de Parfum sprays from the permanent ÉCLATAUR Collection, returned with a valid Return Authorization, in their original packaging, with cellophane wrap and bottle seal fully intact, and received within 21 days of the original delivery date.

If the seal is broken, the packaging is damaged, or the item is received outside the Return Authorization window, the return may be refused or may qualify only for a partial refund at our discretion.

Non-Returnable Items

Except as required by applicable law, or as otherwise provided in Section 7 (Damaged or Defective Items), the following items are Final Sale and cannot be returned or exchanged:

  • Opened or used full-size sprays – due to hygiene, anti-contamination, and product integrity standards.
  • Roll-On perfume oils – due to the direct-contact applicator, hygiene cannot be verified after delivery.
  • Testers from The Prelude Collection – these are intended for trial and discovery.
  • Discovery Sets and Gift Sets – once shipped, these curated presentations are non-returnable.
  • Édition Limitée releases – limited edition fragrances produced in small quantities are Final Sale.
  • Sale and clearance items – products marked Final Sale at the time of purchase.
  • Gift cards.

If you received any Final Sale item in damaged, defective, or incorrect condition, please see Section 7. We will make it right.

How to Initiate a Return

To return an eligible unopened full-size spray:

  • Email support@eclataur.com within 14 days of delivery to request a Return Authorization. Include your order number and the reason for return.
  • Once authorized, ship the unopened bottle back using a trackable ground shipping service. The customer is responsible for return shipping costs.
  • Once we receive and verify the return is unopened and in resalable condition, we will process a refund to your original payment method within 5 to 7 business days.

Please note: original shipping charges are non-refundable.

Hazmat Notice for Returns

Perfume is classified by the U.S. Department of Transportation as a Class 3 Flammable Liquid. When you ship a return, you are legally responsible for complying with all DOT regulations.

Perfume cannot be shipped via air methods such as Priority Mail Express or any expedited air service. It must be shipped via Ground Transportation only (USPS Ground Advantage or UPS Ground).

Damaged or Defective Items

Every ÉCLATAUR bottle is inspected before shipment, and each order is packed with care to protect the glass in transit. In the rare event that an item arrives damaged, leaking, or defective, we will work with you to resolve the issue promptly.

  • Reporting Window: Please notify us within 48 hours of delivery if your item arrives damaged, leaking, defective, or incorrect.
  • Required Information: Email support@eclataur.com with your order number, a description of the issue, and clear photos of the product and the shipping carton. Photos are essential for us to process your claim and file any necessary carrier damage reports.
  • Our Preferred Remedy: A complimentary replacement of the same product, shipped at no cost to you. For most damage claims, this is the fastest resolution.
  • Refund Alternative: If a replacement is not available (for limited edition releases, for example), or if you would prefer a refund, we will issue a full refund of the product price to your original payment method.
  • Resolution Timeline: We aim to resolve every damage or defect claim within 3 business days of receiving your report and photos.

Allergies and Skin Sensitivities

Our fragrances are handcrafted with natural essential oils, aroma molecules, and other fragrance materials. Individual reactions to fragrance can vary, and we take both personal sensitivity and product quality seriously.

  • Patch Test Recommended: Before applying any fragrance broadly, we recommend patch-testing a small amount of the included tester on the inside of your wrist or elbow, and waiting 24 hours to observe any reaction.
  • Personal Skin Sensitivity: Because individual skin chemistry varies, personal reactions to specific fragrance materials are not grounds for return of the full-size bottle under our standard policy. The complimentary tester and our Prelude program are designed precisely to help you identify sensitivity before committing to a full-size purchase.
  • Suspected Product Quality Issue: If you believe a reaction was caused by a manufacturing defect, product contamination, or a product quality issue, please contact us at support@eclataur.com. We review these cases individually and will work with you toward a fair resolution.
  • Serious Reactions: If you experience a severe or unusual reaction, please discontinue use immediately and consult a qualified medical professional. Our customer support team is not qualified to provide medical advice.

Order Cancellations

We work quickly to process orders. If you wish to cancel, contact us at support@eclataur.com within 2 hours of placing your order.

Once a shipping label has been generated and the package has entered our fulfillment queue, we cannot cancel the order. You may receive the order and follow the standard return process if it qualifies under the Try Before You Unseal guarantee.

Refund Processing Times

Once your return is received and verified, refunds are processed to your original payment method within 5 to 7 business days. Depending on your bank or card issuer, it may take an additional 3 to 10 business days for the refund to appear on your statement.
