The VELUM System: The Base Accord Behind the Fragrance

VELUM is ÉCLATAUR’s proprietary base accord. It is composed to support the depth, diffusion and dry-down of a fragrance, while leaving room for each scent’s own character.

What a base accord contributes

A fragrance changes as you wear it. Its opening introduces the composition, the heart develops its main character, and the dry-down brings forward the notes that remain closer to the skin. These are useful ways to describe the experience, rather than a timetable every wearer will follow.

The base is part of that whole. At the bench, we assess how the opening leads into the heart, how the dry-down feels, and whether the composition remains recognisable as it develops. A named accord alone does not demonstrate a measured result.

Presence, projection and wear

Projection describes how a fragrance radiates from the skin. Sillage is the trail it leaves as you move. Longevity concerns how long you can perceive it. These qualities are related, but one does not establish the others.

Skin, application, weather and the finished composition all affect the experience. We describe a fragrance’s character on its product page and encourage you to judge it on your own skin.

Each composition keeps its character

CLARTE brings amber and musk into a warm dry-down. BRUME explores a woody direction. SUNLATTE carries a gourmand character. Their listed notes describe the fragrance you encounter; they are not a disclosure of formulation quantities.

Does VELUM guarantee a wear time?

No fixed wear time is promised. VELUM supports the composition, and the finished fragrance is evaluated as a whole. The most useful comparison is a wear test in the conditions where you expect to enjoy it.
